As previously mentioned, angular contact bearings are usually mounted in a group of two or more opposed preloaded units with rigid or elastic spacers. This can bee done by matching up multiple single row bearings or by utilizing double row angular contact bearings which may offer some econmic benefits. However, utilizing multiple single sow angular contact ball bearings can offer greater design flexibility and performance in many cases.

Angular bearings are usually mounted in a group of two or more opposed preloaded units with rigid or elastic spacers. Typically, the inner and outer raceways and balls are made of chrome steel. Where operating conditions are severe, bearings may have ceramic balls creating a hybrid bearing.
